Some of my favorites are:
Stealing power from power lines using electromagnetic theories – Hoax or just stupid idea
Sun powered windmill – Interesting idea but ultimately flawed because the weight of the windmill was too much for the sun powered device to turn.
Water batteries – They do work to light up small lights but their inefficiency makes them useless for serious generation, good science experiments though.
The truth is that if there was a good way to generate power it would be used by people, governments and companies worldwide. This is the other truth, home power generation is possible because it uses the same technologies already developed and in use today namely solar and wind power. Many people balk at the idea of installing these things because of cost. If you could keep the cost down to a minimum however and see the savings in your bills month after month enough to pay off your initial investment in time and money would you do it?
Most people would say yes with savings a distinct possibility and the motivation of helping the planet just a small bit. By eliminating the labor cost of installing solar panels and by making your own wind generators you can actually create enough power to reduce or eliminate your bill and have home power generation long into the future.
